New estimation techniques for ordinal sensitive variables

چکیده
Methods to analyze multicategorical variables are extensively used in sociological, medical and educational research. Nonetheless, they have a very sparse presence finite population sampling when sensitive topics investigated data obtained by means of the randomized response technique (RRT), survey method based on principle that questions must not be asked directly respondents. The RRT is with aim reducing social desirability bias, which defined as respondent tendency release personal information according what socially acceptable. This nonstandard data-collection approach was originally developed deal dichotomous responses questions. Later, idea has been extended multicategory responses. In this paper we consider ordinal more than two categories. particular, first discuss theoretical framework for estimating frequency categories subjected misclassification due use particular RRT. Then, show how it possible improve efficiency inferential process employing auxiliary at estimation stage through calibration approach. Finally, assess performance proposed estimators Monte Carlo simulation study.

A new look at Horn's parallel analysis with ordinal variables.
Previous research evaluating the performance of Horn's parallel analysis (PA) factor retention method with ordinal variables has produced unexpected findings. Specifically, PA with Pearson correlations has performed as well as or better than PA with the more theoretically appropriate polychoric correlations. Seeking to clarify these findings, the current study employed a more comprehensive simu...

Reflecting the usefulness of multilevel analysis and the importance of categorical outcomes in many areas of research, generalization of multilevel models for categorical outcomes has been an active area of statistical research. For dichotomous response data, several approaches adopting either a logistic or probit regression model and various methods for incorporating and estimating the influen...

متن کاملRegression for ordinal variables without underlying continuous variables
Several techniques exist nowadays for continuous (i.e. numerical) data analysis and modeling. However, although part of the information gathered by companies, statistical offices and other institutions is numerical, a large part of it is represented using categorical variables in ordinal or nominal scales. Techniques for model building on categorical data are required to take advantage of such ...
